Beautiful Day!

I’m so proud of my country today!

It’s bittersweet though, as I’m simultaneously ashamed of my home state.

It’s a big setback, but it’s only temporary. Bigotry is on the wrong side of history.

  1. Dear MMN,

    Sentiments shared.

Do you have any photos of autumnal beauty?

    Thanks for posting.

  2. McDoc — Why, yes — yes I do. Thanks for reminding me. 🙂

  3. I like the contrast between what the title is and what the lyrics say, (“Its a beautiful day” but the message is about coping with a bad day). Also one of my favorite examples of I suppose, subconscious musical thievery. Compare the bridge of “Beautiful Day” with the one in this 1985 song by Norways, A-Ha

  4. I share your sentiments about the ban on gay marriage. Florida resoundingly voted to define marriage as solely heterosexual. I was disgusted. At least we and the nation got it right in electing Obama as the next president.

  5. My emotions went so up and down within those hours… I was thrilled to come home from work and watch the returns Tuesday night… my sister called crying after going to a funeral… we both picked up a bit after talking about that, the election, my nephew… Obama won… Prop 8 lost… I feel very hopeful overall, but it’s tinged with that failure… Bittersweet, indeed…
